Supply List

spot.gif (316 bytes) 1 square piece of sturdy paper (12"x12" used in photos)
spot.gif (316 bytes) Straight edge scissors or sharp craft knife
spot.gif (316 bytes) Bone folder or something to give you a crisp fold (floppy disk used on photos)
spot.gif (316 bytes) Embellishments and decorations of your choice

Procedure

It really is very simple! You start out with a square (mine was 8"X8")

1. Fold it in half horizontally, unfold, and fold in half vertically, unfold

2. Fold diagonally to the right, unfold, and fold diagonally to the left,  unfold

3. Fold each of the corners towards the center, unfold, turn paper over and fold the corners in again (this will make the book more flexible), unfold

4. Turn one of the corners towards you (you'll be looking at it as a diamond). Now, you are going to make a "+" cut following the creases in the square in the middle of the paper, and an extra cut from the bottom of the "+" to the right (easier to start with this last cut and then do the + --- the triangle whose side you just cut (closest to you) is the back cover, the one right next to it (inside the middle square) is the front cover.

5. You can now just fold the paper holding the back cover in your hand, alternating between mountain and valley folds

6. Note from Sunni: Instead of putting a cover on the front and back, I simply folded the covers back and taped them to the paper under the fold.

7. all you have to do now is decorate the pages and make front and back covers. For some tips, check out PAGE TWO.
