by Jacqueline Fitzgerald Graham

bleachedbackgroundt.gif (23623 bytes)Materials

*Background stamp
*Colored cardstock (dark/deep colors work very nice)
*Bleach (experiment w/floral scent if you don't like the regular)
*Paper towel
*Small plate

For Embellishment

*Stamp of your choice
*Paperclay
*Rolling pin
*Watercolor or Marvy Metallic markers
*Be sure to work in a well ventilated area.
*Preheat oven to 250 degrees fahrenheidt.

Let's begin with the PaperClay embellishment! PaperClay is very soft and does not require the amount of conditioning as any of the polymer clays. Simply roll the clay in your hands and form a small ball. Lay it on a surface and flatten with the palm of your hand. Take your rolling pin and roll until it is flat and even. Stamp your image into the clay. Cut around the image. Now it is time for baking. I have a special pan and toaster oven I bake my clays in. You can also use baking boards. Let your clay bake for about 20 to 30 minutes.

While the PaperClay is baking, begin working on the bleached background. Fold your papertowel and put it on the plate. Slowly pour your bleach onto the paper towel. Take your stamp and tap it on the bleached paper towel as if you were tapping on a stamp pad.  Stamp your cardstock. Continue this process until your cardstock is decorated as you like it. Clean your stamp with a baby wipe or water.

When your clay has finished baking, allow it to cool. Color with your watercolor or Marvy metallic markers. Apply your embellishement to a small square piece of cardstock. Apply the mounted PaperClay to your bleached cardstock.
