Rich's Resist Technique

Here is a Resist.jpg (20788 bytes)form of resist method discovered by Rich Shelby, by sheer accident one day while he was stamping.   It works wonderfully!  You will have to try it to believe it!

Materials

*Encore Metallic Ink Pad (use gold the first time, experiment later as other metallic colors will smear and sometimes that is the look you are trying to get.
*Gloss (shiny) cardstock
*Dye based ink
*Paper towel, tissue, sponges, brayer (many choices of application things)

Procedure:

Find an image that is solid for your first time, explore the possibilities later.

Cover the solid stamp image completely with Encore Metallic Gold ink.

Stamp it on the glossy cardstock.

Repeat several times as you make a background of this image stamp.

Wait about 30 to 45 seconds for the metallic ink to react with the glossy paper.

Wipe off the metallic ink turning the paper towel as you wipe the metallic ink off of the cardstock.

Notice a "ghost image" left on the shiny cardstock.  This portion of the glossy cardstock will not accept dye ink.

Now, apply a dye based ink over the entire card.  Wipe off the excess ink after you apply it.

Use a brayer and a rainbow pad for the first time.  Later, you can sponge on the dye ink, maybe use a piece of tissue and blot it on a dye pad, and apply on the glossy cardstock, whatever you desire!

Result

You should immediately see a photo-like card that is completely dry to the touch.  Amazing isn't it!  I found this technique completely by accident.  You could now stamp and emboss right over the background.  You could stamp directly on the backgound too.   The possibilities are endless.

I hope that you try my "resist" technique and it turns out well for you.
