Jacquard Technique
by Eileen deMars

This was a technique taught to us by Eileen deMars.  It is absolutely stunning when used to decorate small boxes.  You can find templates for the boxes at: Mirkwood Designs.

Materials:

*Colored or white/ecru cardstock
*Clear or slightly-tinted embossing ink
*Clear embossing powder
*3-5 coordinating colors of watercolor
*Template
*Tissue

Use template to cut colored or white/ecru card stock.  You can score now, or choose to do so later.

Using a detailed stamp loaded up with clear or slightly-tinted embossing ink, stamp to completely cover box.

Emboss the ink with clear embossing powder.

Using 3-5 coordinating colors of watercolor markers, scribble or draw all over the piece. I do about a one half by one inch area per scribble of one color in several places then take the next color and do the same. I use the last color to make sure it is all filled in.

Wipe with a tissue.  Card stock then shows up through the clear embossing and looks like stitches.

The technique also makes great background paper too!
