In the year 2000, I tried a Crafter's Co-op in one of the local malls. I sold
a little bit to fellow crafters in the store and the rest walked out the door in the
pockets of shoplifters. Mostly, none of it moved. My wares are a bit too different for
this area where farming and ranching is the primary source of income and Christian
fundamentalism is firmly entrenched. Also - my skills were not as good then as they are
now. While I did have good products, it was the wrong venue. For the last couple years, I
have spent most of my time learning and refining my artistic skills.
Now, I have begun to make the rounds of the local fairs. Currently, my budget is close to zero dollars, so I am hitting the fairs not requiring insurance and with low booth fees. I have learned a lot by asking questions and reading avidly all references to displaying at shows and fairs on the polymer clay mailing lists and forums. I am confident I will succeed eventually. This section of my website is the chronicle of my journey into the artist's world of selling.
